Sightseeing Day Tour - Sea Canoe Day trip - June Bathra Sailing Tours

Phang Nga Bay Sea Canoe Day trip

Sea canoeing (or sea kayaking) is an ideal way to see Phang Nga bay up close and personal. Many of the limestone rock formations have Hongs (inner rooms) that can be accessed only in a kayak and then only when the tides are right. Phang Nga Sea Canoe

Some of the cave entrances are so small that they are hard to spot until your guide points them out. You will have to lay back flat in your kayak just to get through. Sometimes the guides have to slightly deflate the kayak to squeeze in.

The caverns are full of stalactites and stalagmites. Some caves have bats hanging from the ceiling (smelly) and some caves shine like diamonds. Entering the inner lagoon is like entering another world. The quiet tranquility is only disturbed by the splashing of your paddles of the screech of a macaque. This is a real adventure but you don't need to be Indiana Jones to enjoy it because experienced local guides will paddle the canoe for you. (You can paddle yourself if you want).

The Sea Canoe day trip program includes paddling at several of the most picturesque spots in the bay including Panak Island, Hong Island and the Bat Cave. The schedule varies daily depending on tide levels.

You will also get to see James Bond Island and Khao Ping Kan before enjoying a sumptuous lunch. In the afternoon there is time to relax, swim and soak up the scenery on the beach at either Naka or Lawa Island.Phang Nga Bay Sea Kayak

Sea Canoe Itinerary:
Your adventure starts with pick up from your hotel at 0730-0815. You are transferred with an air con mini van to Ao Poh pier on the north east coast of Phuket.

At 0900 hours you board the cruise boat and depart on the cruise up to Phang Nga Bay. This is a very scenic cruise in the sheltered bay (flat water) with lots of opportunities for taking photographs. White bellied sea eagles usually accompany the boat on it's cruise. One the way you will be introduced to your smiling guides who will tell you a little about the area.

The first stop is Panak Island where you hop into the kayaks for an exploration. As the light reflects up off the water onto the rocks you'll see a light show that Hollywood studios couldn't create with a million dollar budget.

You'll spend about 50 minutes at Panak Island and about the same at Hong Island. Your guide will do his/her best to show you wildlife such as water monitors, monkeys, spiders, snakes and bats. Lunch is a delicious buffet of Thai food on board. The staff also like to entertain their guests with a little show on board.Sea Kayak Phang Nga Bay

The northern most stop on your trip is at James Bond Island. You'll have a few minutes time to walk around the souvenir stalls here.

In the afternoon enjoy the beach at Lawa or Naka Island. You can do some self paddled kayaking here if you like, or just swim from the beach.

The cruise back to Ao Poh pier will arrive at about 1700 hours from where you will be transferred back to your hotel.
